Situated on the Drava River and its tributary Gail, Villach is an important transport hub. In the immediate vicinity of the city there are the Ossiacher See, Faaker See, Silbersee, Vassacher See, Magdalensee and St. Leonharder lakes. The most famous landmark is the parish church of St. Jacob with a 95-meter bell tower, located next to the church of the Holy Cross, and you simply must visit the city hall originally built in 1570, which was rebuilt after it was demolished in World War II.
