From Trieste Centrale station passengers can make connection to Venice, Milan, Rome and other destinations.

Trieste is a city embraced and surrounded by the sea, which has blended in so well with it. The railway station, which is only about 200 meters away from the sea, is a perfect starting point to go sightseeing. Take a stroll along the promenade to the city centre. The promenade is surrounded by numerous mansions from the time of the Habsburgs, when Trieste was the most important port and one of the largest cities of the Habsburg Monarchy.
Immediately on your left you will notice Canal Grande, which is situated in one of the most charming parts of the city. Take a stroll along the small bridges over Canal Grande, enjoy delicious food at restaurants, have a drink at the bar, or enjoy one of the most spectacular views in Trieste – the Church of St. Antony Taumaturgo, situated at the end of Canal Grande.
If you continue along heading towards the city centre, you will arrive at the passenger terminal of the port of Trieste, the largest freight port on the Adriatic Sea. The passenger terminal is situated opposite Piazza dell´Unita d´Itaila, the main city square. At the main square and in the lanes nearby, there are numerous cafés. The oldest café is Caffé Tommaseo, which was opened in 1830. The Verdi theatre is situated fifty metres east of the square.
On the north bank of the Gulf of Trieste, there is a magnificent Miramare castle. If you head about two kilometres to the inland from there, you can visit Grotta Gigante, the largest cave in the world, which is open to tourists.
